We are an independent foundation providing private funding for young academics researching innovative smart city solutions. The foundation is located in Seoul, South Korea and provides funding to researchers from around the world.

With increasing urbanization around the world there is an acute need to develop and implement new technologies to monitor and manage the integrated development of cities in a wide range of aspects, these include:

Transport

Integrated private and public transportation system control and monitoring solutions.

Environmental

Air & water quality monitoring and warning systems; flood control and drainage solutions.

Utilities

Smart water and sewage management and recycling systems; parks irrigation control; street illumination systems; advanced waste management & recycling solutions

Planning

Planning department systems integration with other municipal departments, utility providers, architecural & engineering offices; advanced GIS systems; automated city-wide monitoring.

Law & Order

Law enforcement; crowd control; automated smart street crime identification and discouragement systems.

Emergency Response

City-wide monitoring for emergency services for multiple disaster scenarios and rapid response solutions; automated public access information systems.

Grant tips

Traffisearch provides grant funding to suitable research programs in the realm of smart city solutions. The application process can appear daunting to the prospective applicant. We've collated a number of useful tips based on our applicants' and our experience, these tips should help explain and simplify the process for you.

Make sure that you are eligible and that your application is suitable to our organizational remit.

If you're not sure whether your research is eligible for our consideration you're welcome to contact us, we'll be able to ascertain whether or not it's worth your while to proceed in the application process, and to provide you with useful advice.

Prepare a budget proposal covering all projected costs for the duration of your research.

Draw up a project timeline highlighting all major milestones, make sure you allow for contingencies and unexpected occurrences.

Be sure to include all relevant information in your application:

  • What is the expected impact of your research? Will it create a new perspective of your field?
  • Is your proposal well thought out and presented? Be sure to specify the rationale behind the proposal.
  • What is your timescale and is it realistic?
  • Is your research an original concept or is it a development of an existing body of work?
  • Are other researchers working on similar research projects?
  • Are you applying as an individual or as part of a collaboration?
  • Tell us about yourself and relevant experience.
  • Are you the holder of the intellectual property of your proposal? Will you be responsible for managing the development?

Apply for a grant

Your application must include the following:

  • Project director/Principal investigator,
  • Title of project.
  • Period and timescale of proposed project,
  • Budget summary with amount of funds required,
  • Project description (no more than 6 pages) including:
    1. Introduction
      • Purpose of study.
      • Background with review of status of subject in the field and significant previous work.
    2. Methodology
      • Statement of type of study.
      • Target sample or population.
      • Procedures, descriptions of measurements and instruments required.
      • Projected timetable with major steps and milestones with specific dates.
      • Resources required and available.
  • Project Abstract of no more than 600 words
